I recently attended Play the Game, a biennial international conference aiming to strengthen the ethical foundation of sport and promote democracy, transparency and freedom of expression in sport.
Unlike in 2011, when the conference was held in Cologne in Germany, I did not speak at the 2015 edition of the event; instead, I took the opportunity to stand back and listen to a number of journalists, practitioners, and academics who study sport from different viewpoints. One of them was Scott Jedlicka, a colleague in the Sport Management program at Washington State University.
Attending the conference in Aarhus—a beautiful coastal city in a country I could envision myself living in—was well worth the trip; I heard many insightful, remarkable, and inspirational speakers, rekindled some old acquaintances, met new friends, and came up with new ideas I look forward to developing in the future!
